Sweet sliced ​​dried persimmons made from Akiu persimmons that are delicious but could not be harvested and were targeted by bears.

At the home of a senior farmer who has been taking care of me since I started farming in Akiu, there was a large tree in the backyard that was full of persimmons. However, the tree was too big to harvest, and I heard that the farmer lived every day in fear of bears coming when the persimmons ripened, because he couldn't eat them all. Thinking that there must be other farmers like him, the farmer decided to harvest the persimmons that were being targeted by bears and slice them into dried persimmons.

Although it is a variety of astringent persimmon called Hiratanenashi, it is dried when it is nearly fully ripe, so it has a very sweet taste. Sliced ​​dried persimmons are a convenient size for snacks, appetizers, and cooking. You can eat them as they are, or with cream cheese and butter as a snack, or chop them up into small pieces to use as an ingredient in making sweets. How about julienned them and making some pickled persimmons for the New Year?

When I first tried these sliced ​​dried persimmons, I immediately thought, "This goes great with coffee!", and it turned out to be true. They have a gentle, refreshing sweetness, but also a rich aftertaste that stands up to black coffee. I thought that chocolate is good, but persimmons are also good.
