Kumakko Farm's pesticide-free radishes are a delicious sweet and spicy snack that can be eaten as is.

Kumakko Farm, located in Akko, Sendai, cultivates 80 different kinds of vegetables in small quantities throughout the year, using a meticulous crop rotation system. They only use high-quality organic fertilizers, such as compost and fermented organic fertilizer, and no pesticides or chemical fertilizers. All their vegetables are precious.

The daikon used for the daikon radish snack are those that were bruised, broken, or deemed substandard and therefore could not be delivered to their home delivery members. We separate these, cut them, and dry them.

I became an instant fan of Kumakko after tasting the fresh, juicy sweetness of their raw daikon. Even when dried, the sweetness remains strong. The sweetness that slowly spreads throughout your mouth with every bite, and the slight hint of spiciness that escapes through your nose, are simply irresistible. Depending on the supply at the time, purple daikon may also be included, but the proportion is not fixed.

Dried daikon contains dietary fiber and potassium, and offers a sweet and savory taste.

Since they are cut thicker than regular kiriboshi daikon (dried daikon strips), please enjoy them as a satisfying snack on their own. You can also rehydrate them in water or lukewarm water and try them in salads, stews, or miso soup.
